Today’s quote is from one of God’s generals John Wesley, and this quote from John Wesley nudges us how the church can change the world.
The Church changes the world not by making converts, but by making disciples.
John Wesley
The great commission that has been handed over to us can be found in the synoptic gospels. Which instructs us to go and teach all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Which didn’t stop there, it then says teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. Matthew 28:18-20.
After an unbeliever has believed and is now saved, the next line of action is discipleship. So for the church of God to change the world, we can only do that by making disciples.
Moreover, who is a disciple?
A disciple is defined according to Merriam Webster dictionary as one who accepts and assists in spreading the doctrines of another.
Just like our Lord Jesus Christ did, He called the apostles first to be with before sending them out to harvest more souls into his kingdom.

And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach, and to have power to heal sicknesses and to cast out devils.
Mark 3: 14 – 15
Meanwhile, that’s the function of the church according to Ephesians 4:11 – 12
And he gave some, apostles and some, prophets; and some, evangelists and some, pastors and teachers. For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ. These ministerial gifts are for perfecting of the saints, that every saint would also harvest more saints into the fold.
Ephesians 4:11 – 12
In addition, when we hear the church it is talking about you and me (i.e. believers). In as much it is expedient we make converts, it is mandatory that the converts grow and are established in the word of God. Because before we can make disciples they must first be converted.
